Participants in the Russian Powerlifting Championships were awarded in Tula

On Saturday, April 13, the winners and prize-winners of the Russian powerlifting championship were solemnly awarded. The event took place today at the Tula sports and recreation complex “Oruzheynik”. This was reported by the press service of the regional government.

The head of the Ministry of Sports of the Tula Region, Dmitry Yakovlev, took part in the ceremony. He noted that the arms capital once again hosted large-scale competitions at a high level.

“The competition was very high – 84 regions presented their strongest athletes. I congratulate everyone who won prizes, I wish everyone further development and conquest of the highest sporting heights!” Dmitry Yakovlev addressed the participants of the powerlifting championship.

Based on the results of the performances, the Russian Federation national powerlifting team will be formed. In the future, the participants will represent our state at international competitions.

The competition took place from April 6, 2024 in two disciplines: bench press and classic bench press. Over 700 athletes demonstrated their strength, among whom were 30 representatives of the Tula region.

It is clarified that such events in the Tula region popularize a healthy lifestyle. This is one of the priority tasks of the federal project “Sport is the norm of life” of the national project “Demography”.

It is worth noting that athletes from the Tula region regularly demonstrate their professionalism at competitions of various scales – both all-Russian and international. The strength of our fellow countrymen is proven by multiple medals and prize-winning places.

The motivation to play sports is passed on, among other things, to ordinary residents of the Tula region. Since 2019, the number of people who love physical activity has increased from 45 to 56%. At the same time, there are 1,500 relevant facilities in the region.

Thus, 17 GTO testing centers have been created in the Tula region, where more than 300 thousand residents of the region have passed the standards. Over the course of several years, 15 large mass competitions of the GTO complex were also held, in which over 18 thousand people participated. Moreover, many of them have received awards.
