Three members of the film crew were responsible for the death of a worker
The members of the film crew of the film Nuremberg, about the trial of Nazi criminals after the Second World War, had to endure their own trial. Three filmmakers were held accountable before the law for the death of a worker during the filming of a historical drama.
As it became known to MK, the 55-year-old scene assembler Yevgeny Stepanov became the victim of an accident. On May 31, he went to the site for the final time: the man’s contract was ending. But this day was the last for him not only in work, but also in life. He was setting up a half-ton set on a film set when one element suddenly broke off and crushed a worker. The man was seriously injured, spent three days in intensive care, but the doctors could not save his life.
The day after the incident, the head of the scenery, Natalia Anurova, resigned from the film studio. However, this did not save her from criminal liability. Also put on trial were brigadier Vladimir Korostii and scenery installer Sergei Matveev (by the way, they still work at the film studio). All were charged under article 216 part 2 of the Criminal Code (“Violation of safety rules in the course of construction or other work, resulting in the death of a person through negligence”). On Monday, the Nikulinsky Court sentenced all three to 2 years of suspended liberty and satisfied the claim in the amount of 500,000 rubles in solidarity in favor of the victim.
