Parents are willing to spend on preparing their child for school

This year, a record number of first-graders will go to the capital’s schools – almost 119,000 people. According to public opinion polls, almost three-quarters of families in the capital are ready to spend more than 10,000 rubles on preparing for school.

What are they going to buy?

A quarter of parents, almost 27 percent will buy stationery, 15 percent will renew school uniforms, 12 percent will buy books and textbooks, 10.5 percent of respondents will buy new uniforms for their students. Appliances and gadgets will be updated by 8.5 percent of respondents, and another 5% are thinking about buying new furniture (desks, chairs, etc.).

Who will buy goods for schoolchildren?

When asked about the choice of goods, a quarter of parents said that they choose goods together with the child, another 21 percent of respondents listen to the opinion of the child, but choose the goods themselves. Only 8 percent of parents show complete independence – they choose goods completely on their own, without consulting the child. And only 2 percent of respondents are ready to give the choice of goods to the school entirely to children.

Where do parents buy school supplies?

Two out of three families, or almost 70 percent, buy supplies for school in different types of stores – at a fair, in a bookstore, and also online. Only 20 percent of parents buy everything only in the store.

How much money will parents spend on preparing for school?

According to the survey, 75 percent of parents will spend more than 10,000 rubles on preparing for school. Another 8.5 percent of the respondents plan to spend from 5 to 10 thousand rubles, 12 percent will spend from 2 to 5 thousand.
