Paralympian from Buryatia Alexander Khaltagarov won the World Drafts Championship. The world championship took place in Bulan-Sogotuu in Kyrgyzstan. Alexander Khaltagarov won the gold of the World Championship among persons with lesions of the musculoskeletal system (POMA). This year, the athlete took part in the Russian Championship for the first time and immediately became a champion. After the triumph, he was included in the country’s Paralympic team.
First, the participants played in a group tournament. Then the eight strongest athletes competed for medals according to the Olympic system with a knockout. On the coast of Lake Issyk-Kul, the Buryat parashawist Alexander Khaltagarov looked convincing and became the winner of the World Championship. He defeated his compatriot Dmitry Redin from the Moscow region in the final.
In total, athletes from Russia with POD won 5 medals. At the same time, a world tournament was held among athletes with visual impairments. Here Russian drafts players won 10 medals.
