Parallel imports increased unpredictability in the Russian market

At the moment, the labor productivity of Russian enterprises lags behind similar indicators of foreign companies many times over, which hinders the competitiveness of domestic products on the international market, said Alexander Molodtsov, director of the department for labor productivity, protection and encouragement of investments of the Ministry of Economic Development, as part of the round table “Development in Russia of the Institute of Rationalization in Modern realities”, which was held at the site of the CSR. At the same time, businesses still have to compete with foreigners, whose products continue to come to Russia, he recalled. Moreover, parallel imports, with all the obvious advantages, introduced an element of unpredictability to the market: it is often easier for a business to compete with an understandable set of players, since it is easier to predict their behavior and pricing in this way, he said. This does not allow Russian manufacturers to relax.

But it is possible to significantly increase the efficiency and, accordingly, the competitiveness of Russian industries with the capacities that they already have, Molodtsov is sure. This can be achieved by optimizing processes within the company according to the principles of “lean production”. A very important role in this case is played by such a phenomenon as rationalization – the introduction by employees of new technical solutions that increase the efficiency of their work.
