Chairman of the Moscow City Election Commission Olga Kirillova said that the paper ballots of those who voted on September 8 will be cancelled.
On the morning of September 9, videos appeared on the Telegram channel of State Duma deputy from the Communist Party Sergei Obukhov, in which precinct commission No. 1246 changes ballots in safe packages. Vadim Kovalev, head of the monitoring headquarters, called the incident an unprecedented situation. A group was sent to the site to clarify the circumstances.
“We have made the decision to cancel all paper ballots at this PEC for now. The chairman of the commission will be suspended from work until the circumstances are clarified. We cannot allow one misunderstanding to discredit the entire vote,” said Ms. Kirillova, her words are quoted in Telegram channel Public headquarters.
At the same time, she noted that there are “not many” ballots that need to be canceled, since most Muscovites used the remote electronic voting system. According to the Public Headquarters, as of this morning, September 9, over 1.6 million people took part in remote electronic voting.
