The Central Election Committee (CEC) is going to use a new digital platform instead of the GAS “Vybory” in the presidential elections in 2024. This was announced by the head of the CEC Ella Pamfilova.
“For the presidential elections, we plan to use a new digital platform that will replace our well-deserved GAS Elections,” said Ms. Pamfilova “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”. According to her, the platform will fully function on domestic software.
Ella Pamfilova recalled that remote voting (DEV) in presidential elections will be used in those regions where this technology has already been tested.
In 2020, Ella Pamfilova did not rule out that by 2024 the electoral system would be ready to hold a DEG in all regions of Russia. At the same time, about a quarter of subjects are ready to use the DEG in the elections of 2023. According to Kommersant’s information, some do not show such a desire, even despite the successful experience of online voting in the recent past.
