On Friday, June 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the new Martial Arts Academy in the Sirius Science and Art Park, accompanied by Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller, Russian Judo Federation President Sergei Soloveichik and judoka, Olympic 2012 champion Mansur Isaev.
Looking around the Academy, built for training members of the Russian national teams in judo and sambo, the Russian leader said that it was a real palace. During Miller’s story about the arrangement of the institution, Putin, who has been engaged in martial arts since childhood, made a number of comments.
In particular, assessing the possibility of creating wind speeds of up to 40 m/s in the climatic chamber at the Academy, Putin explained that this “will help with amplitude throws: wow – the enemy has flown away.”
Meanwhile, Russia is developing sports cooperation with friendly states. In particular, a plan of joint activities was signed with Cuba aimed at development of cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports, for the period from 2023 to 2025. It involves the holding by Russia and Cuba of joint training and sports events in 19 sports that the parties consider priority, as well as cooperation in the field of sports science and between sports educational institutions of these two countries.
