Over 70% of South Koreans supported the country's creation of nuclear weapons

Over 70% of South Korean citizens support the implementation of the country’s own nuclear weapons development program in connection with the military threat from the DPRK and the lack of confidence in diplomatic ways to resolve the North Korean problem. According to a poll conducted by the CHEY Institute for Advanced Study in South Korea, where NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg delivered a lecture on Monday, 76.6% of South Koreans believe that the country needs to independently develop nuclear weapons in order to counter the nuclear threat of Pyongyang, and 72.4% are sure that the Republic of Korea can do it. Denuclearization by North Korea appears “impossible” to 77.6% of citizens, with 78.6% saying Pyongyang is likely to conduct a seventh nuclear test.
