Over 37,000 coronavirus cases detected in Russia

In Russia, 37,609 cases of coronavirus infection were registered per day, follows from the data headquarters. This is almost 2 thousand (5%) more than the day before, and the maximum since March 14, when 41 thousand cases were detected. At the same time, in Moscow, the number of cases decreased by almost 6% compared to yesterday’s figure.

During the day, 3.3 thousand people were hospitalized in Russia (2.3% more than on August 18), 65 people died (3 more than yesterday).

In Moscow, the number of cases falls for the second day in a row: today, August 19 – 8555, August 18 – 9080, August 17 – 10241.

The leading regions in terms of the number of detected cases of infection as of August 19:

• Moscow (8555);
• St. Petersburg (4127);
• Moscow region (3136);
• Krasnodar Territory (1233);
• Leningrad region (963);
• Krasnoyarsk Territory (809);
• Irkutsk region (698).

Since August, the rate of coronavirus infection has been rising sharply. At the beginning of the month, Rospotrebnadzor recommended wear masks to “vulnerable categories of citizens”, in mid-August, the service advised to return the mask regime to regions where the incidence exceeds 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. After the statement of Rospotrebnadzor, advisory coronavirus measures introduced in Tatarstan, Dagestan, Gorny Altai, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Novosibirsk and Vologda regions.
