Over 25 thousand young Vologda residents train in school sports clubs

Every school in the Vologda Oblast has sports clubs for pupils. There, more than 25 thousand children are engaged in physical activity in groups, sections and teams. For young Vologda residents, trainings are held in football, volleyball, basketball, athletics, cross-country skiing, boxing, shooting, and even bandy.

According to authorities, the main task of such clubs is to involve schoolchildren in sports and promote a healthy lifestyle. In addition, classes in sections of educational institutions are the first step in the development of youth sports.

School teams take part in various tournaments. First, the winner is determined in the organization itself, and then the best of the best compete at the municipal, regional and federal levels.

So, last weekend there were competitions of the regional stage of the All-Russian Sports Games, where 11 teams from several districts of the Vologda region, the regional capital, Cherepovets and a multidisciplinary lyceum fought for victory. More than 170 children aged 11-12 years old became participants. Gold of the tournament went to young athletes from the Gryazovets region, silver to teenagers from the Vologda region, and bronze to representatives of the Sokol region.

We add that the activities of school sports clubs are coordinated by the Regional Center for Additional Education for Children. Anyone can sign up for classes.
