The head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said that the coverage of children with measles vaccinations is 97%. According to her, just over 1,000 children fell ill. She claims that in the second quarter there is a decrease in the incidence in the country, and the cases of “importation” of measles have stopped.
“The seasonality for this infection on the territory of the Russian Federation is autumn-spring, that is, exactly what we are seeing now. The end of the previous year, the first quarter, in the second quarter, already today we see a certain decrease (in the incidence of measles.— “b”),” Ms. Popova said in an interview with Rossiya 24 (quote from Interfax).
Last week measles cases have been identified in 44 regions. The head of Rospotrebnadzor argued that local foci of the disease can be stopped and there is no need for systemic restrictions yet. In several private clinics in Moscow complained the shortage of measles vaccines.
