Ovechkin set an NHL record for most games with goals, surpassing Gretzky
Russian Alexander Ovechkin, who plays for the Washington Capitals, set a record for the most matches of the NHL regular season with goals scored, scoring a double in an away game against the Calgary Flames.
The meeting was Ovechkin’s 639th match of the regular season with goals. The previous record holder was Canadian Wayne Gretzky.
The Washington Capitals are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
