Oryol football player Nikolai Dolgov turns 77 today

Today, December 9, was marked by a wonderful event for the Oryol football community: Nikolai Dolgov, a legend of Oryol football and a student of the local school, celebrates his 77th birthday. This famous athlete is unique in the region for his achievements – he is the only football player from Oryol who not only played for the national team during the Soviet era, but also achieved the highest title, becoming the national champion.

The Orel football club, a symbol of the city’s sporting pride, expressed its admiration and congratulated the veteran of the game.

Born in the city of Orel back in 1946, he showed his best qualities as a player, defending the colors of CSKA and leading the team into the ranks of champions in 1970. Dolgov has four performances in the powerful USSR national team. On the field, he distinguished himself as a consummate midfielder and striker, beginning his first steps at Spartak Orel in the mid-60s, which only underlined his contribution to the regional sport. His coaching career was also eventful: he led FC Orel in the 90s, then took the baton at the Center-Orel-GTU exercise club, and in 2008 became the head coach of the Rusichi-2 team.
