Oreshkin predicted a budget surplus and GDP growth in 2023 by 1-2%

The indicator of Russian GDP by the end of 2023 will grow by 1-2%, according to Maxim Oreshkin, aide to the President of the Russian Federation. According to him, until the end of the year the Russian budget will be in surplus.
“Now we see that, having reached a minimum point in June last year, our economy has embarked on a positive trajectory. Business confidence levels are on record. Unemployment in our country has never been so low. GDP will grow by 1-2% by the end of 2023,” said Mr. Oreshkin, speaking at the Knowledge.First marathon.
In addition, according to the forecast of Mr. Oreshkin, until the end of 2023 the Russian budget will be in surplus, which indicates its sustainability. In general, deficit levels will be around the target values (2% of GDP), he said. According to the Ministry of Finance, for the period from January to March, the budget was executed with a deficit of 2.4 trillion rubles. March budget was closed with a small surplus of 183 billion rubles.
In April, the Ministry of Economy presented an updated forecast, according to which Russian GDP will grow by more than 1% this year. According to the forecast of the Bank of Russia on February 10, Russian GDP this year will be between plus and minus 1%.
This spring, the growth forecast for the Russian economy was also improved by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. According to the latest forecast IMF, GDP in 2023 will grow by 0.7%, according to forecast World Bank – will decrease by 0.2% instead of the previously forecasted 3.3%.
