Orel became the arena of the Russian Freestyle Wrestling Championship

Orel has become the arena for a major sporting event – the Russian Freestyle Wrestling Championship, which is being held in the city for the first time.

Over the course of four days at the TMK GRIN sports center, our fellow countrymen will compete with wrestlers from 48 regions of Russia, including athletes from the Donetsk People’s Republic, Zaporozhye region and Crimea. Our region is represented by 13 wrestlers, among whom there are winners and prize-winners of competitions in the Central Federal District and Russia.

The opening ceremony was attended by important guests: Chairman of the Oryol Regional Council of People’s Deputies Leonid Muzalevsky, Head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Oryol Region Alexey Berestov, Mayor of Oryol Yuri Parakhin, President of the Russian Wrestling Federation Mikhail Mamiashvili, professional coaches, as well as representatives of sports associations. They made welcoming speeches, wished them success and presented well-deserved awards to the coaches and organizers of the tournament.

In addition, guests and participants of the event enjoyed the vibrant performances of the soloists of the Slavitsa ensemble and talented young athletes from the Sports School of Gymnastics and Acrobatics, who gave this sports festival a special atmosphere and emotions.
