Orban: Ukraine must guarantee the rights of national minorities if it wants to join the EU

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that if Ukraine wants to join the European Union, it must guarantee the rights of national minorities in its country.
Orban called for guarantees to be written into the legislation with the simultaneous introduction of liability for violation of the law, which he called important.
Hungary and Romania earlier criticized the law on national minorities adopted by the Verkhovna Rada. It is included in a package of conditions that Ukraine must fulfill as a candidate for EU membership.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary Péter Szijjarto recently expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that Transcarpathian Hungarians are being mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a “hard way”. He stressed that this is another reason why Hungary insists on the need for peace talks between the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
