Participants of the “Conservative Movement” and its supporters held a protest action in Tbilisi, demanding a referendum on the law on foreign agents in the republic.
In front of the parliament building in the Georgian capital, they also offered to release convicted anti-LGBT activists detained for vandalizing the Tbilisi Pride office in July 2021.
As became known Sputnik Georgiathe conservatives also spoke in favor of punishing citizens who tried to organize a coup d’état in Tbilisi and threw “Molotov cocktails” at government officials.
The protesters tore down the EU flag from the parliament building, trampled on it and burned it. Instead, the conservatives hung out the banner of Georgia.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic has already initiated a case on an administrative violation. In Georgia, damage to the EU flag faces a fine of $380 (28.6 thousand rubles).
Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili lamented that radicalism breeds radicalism and promised that the banner would return to its place.
