Valentina Merkulova, an ophthalmologist at the Budu online health management service, recommended several types of products that have a beneficial effect on human vision, Moslenta reports.

First of all, the expert singled out orange-colored vegetables and fruits.

In addition, according to Merkulova, in order to maintain and improve friction, it is recommended to consume more foods containing vitamins, carotenoids, trace elements, and omega-3 fatty acids.

“Good for the eyes: fish, meat, eggs, nuts, legumes, citrus fruits, greens, orange-colored vegetables and fruits, olives, olive oil and dairy products,” she said.

It is also recommended to consume green leafy vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, parsley, peas, pumpkin and pistachios. Another source of beneficial substances for vision is egg yolk. Merkulova noted that such substances help protect the retina from exposure to ultraviolet radiation, that is, from phone and computer screens.

The expert noted that omega-3 fatty acids are recommended to be obtained from oily sea fish, fish oil, seafood, flax seeds and chia. They are also found in vegetable oils – linseed, camelina, mustard, hemp, rapeseed, as well as spinach and seaweed.

The ophthalmologist called the Mediterranean diet extremely beneficial, which includes consumption of large amounts of cereals, olive oil, fruits, legumes and vegetables, moderate consumption of saturated fats, moderate to high consumption of chicken and fish, with a very limited content of red meat.

The doctor also pointed out the need for a healthy lifestyle and regular physical activity for those who want to preserve their eyesight.
