OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, is negotiating a new round of financing, due to which the company’s value could reach at least $100 billion, reported Bloomberg with reference to sources.
If a financing agreement is reached, Bloomberg noted, OpenAl will become the second most valuable American startup (after SpaceX). According to sources, the terms and conditions have not been finalized.
As reported Bloomberg and WSJ in October, OpenAl began negotiations to sell some of its employee shares, valuing the company at $86 billion. In January, it was valued at $30 billion.
In September Financial Times reportedthat OpenAl is in talks with former Apple designer Jony Ive and Softbank Group founder Masayoshi Son to create the company’s first artificial intelligence (AI) gadget. The CEO of OpenAI, the newspaper noted, Sam Altman expects to receive $1 billion from Softbank for the development of the device.
