The publication notes that the terms of use of OpenAI technologies were last updated on January 10. The updated terms of use of technologies still prohibit the use of the service to harm oneself or others. As an example of such actions, the document cites the development or use of weapons. At the same time, the complete ban on the military use of technology disappeared from the terms of use.

OpenAI spokesman Nico Felix told The Intercept that the change in language in the terms of use is an effort to create a set of universal principles that are easy to remember and apply.

When asked whether the new document completely prohibits military use of OpenAI technologies, Mr. Felix responded: “Any use of our technologies, including by the military, to develop or use weapons, harm others or destroy property, or engage in unauthorized activities that compromise security. any service or system is prohibited.”
