OPEC+ ministers to meet in person for the first time since March 2020

The meeting of the OPEC + Ministerial Monitoring Committee (JMMC), as well as the meeting of OPEC + ministers, will be held on October 5 in person in Vienna, the secretariat of the organization said.
For a long time – since March 2020 – meetings have been held in the format of videoconferencing. Thus, the upcoming meetings will be the first personal meetings of ministers in 2.5 years.
Meanwhile, even the day before, the OPEC secretariat reported that the meeting would be held, as is customary, in the format of a videoconference. For what reason at the last moment the decision on the format changed, is not reported.
In order to support the oil market, according to Reuters, the organization is discussing the possibility of reducing oil production by 0.5-1 million barrels per day in November.
