The Greece-Bulgaria intersystem gas pipeline has officially been put into operation. According to it, Bulgaria will be able to annually receive a billion cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan, as well as liquefied gas from Greece.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the commissioning ceremony of the IGB interconnector in Sofia that the country plans to double gas supplies to Europe by 2027.

Last year, the export of Azerbaijani gas amounted to about 19 billion cubic meters (8.2 billion to Europe). European deliveries increased by 40% over the year, Aliyev said.

In 2022, exports will be increased to more than 22 billion cubic meters. Of these, 11.5 billion cubic meters will be sent to European consumers.
