The Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) conducted a sociological monitoring of the well-being of the population. Only 40% of Russians surveyed are not worried. Severe anxiety was reported by 13.2% of respondents. The majority of the population (46.8%) experiences moderate anxiety.

“A significant problem in the social well-being of Russian society remains the high level of anxiety among the population. Only 40% of Russians can call themselves free from anxiety,” the survey results say, TASS reports.

In addition, RANEPA studied indicators of the level of satisfaction of Russians with their lives. 36.7% of respondents were satisfied with life, and 31.8% were rather satisfied with their “personal life situation.” The “zone of dissatisfaction” covers a third of the population: 13% are not satisfied with their lives, and 16% are rather dissatisfied.

A high level of negative perception of their own lives is demonstrated by women and middle-aged and older Russians. Among men, 17.3% and 9.3% are dissatisfied and rather dissatisfied with their lives. Among the women surveyed, these figures are 15.8% and 16.2%, among young people aged 18 to 34 years old – 17.8% and 7.5%, among Russians aged 35-54 years old – 18.4% and 13% , and among people aged 55 years and older – 13.8% and 16.2%, respectively.

The study was conducted throughout Russia in December 2023. 1.6 thousand Russians over the age of 18 took part in the survey.
