Only 11% of Russians plan to put up a live Christmas tree at home for the New Year

Russians are gradually starting to prepare for the New Year celebrations, buying gifts, home decorations, and Christmas trees. According to the survey, only 11% of the country’s residents prefer to purchase a live Christmas tree for the holiday, while 65% prefer an artificial one. The site reports this KP.RU.
Those who choose a non-living Christmas tree explain this by saying that some people feel sorry for cutting down a tree for the New Year, while others don’t want to spend a lot of money, since artificial ones are cheaper.
“With an artificial Christmas tree there is less hassle and it’s more economical,” said one of the Russians surveyed.
Those citizens who chose a living decoration for their home said that the aroma of pine needles truly gives a feeling of celebration.
“An artificial one is not a Christmas tree. It’s a piece of plastic, why is it needed,” explained one of the respondents.
In addition, the survey revealed that 24% of Russians do not intend to install any kind of Christmas tree for the holiday.
