Onega divers became winners of the All-Russian army competition

Natives of Onega Mark Koldanov, Denis Privalikhin and Igor Maysyukov competed as part of the Northern Fleet team at the All-Russian army competition in diving all-around “Depth”, which was held in Sevastopol. This is reported by the newspaper “Onega”.
Divers representing the teams of the Northern, Baltic, Pacific and Black Sea Fleets, the Caspian Flotilla, as well as various special forces units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Russian Guard took part in the starts.
As part of the team of the Northern Fleet of 10 people, three are natives of Onega. Mark Koldanov, Denis Privalikhin and Igor Maysyukov are graduates of school No. 1 in Onega. Mark and Denis are now working as divers in the rescue team of the Northern Fleet, which is responsible for the safety of submarines and ships in the White and Barents Seas, the Arctic Ocean. And Igor serves as the foreman of the diving team.
The competition consisted of eight stages. Divers had to perform work in the flooded compartment, welding, cutting and assembling objects under water, as well as in assisting the emergency ship. A separate discipline, which was included in the competition program only in 2019, is aquathlon. This is underwater wrestling in fins with holding the breath. The task of the athlete is to tear off one of the tapes attached to the cuffs on the opponent’s ankles under water. Another discipline introduced in 2021 is underwater tug of war.
According to the results of the competition, the team of the Northern Fleet took first place.
