One of the largest ships of the US Navy arrived in the port of Lithuania

The landing ship USS Kearsarge of the United States arrived at the port of Klaipeda in Lithuania on Saturday and will remain there until Tuesday, informs the US Embassy in Lithuania.
As noted, the Wasp-class vessel USS Kearsarge is the flagship of the 22nd Expeditionary Unit of the United States Marine Corps, the welcoming ceremony is scheduled for Monday. The length of the ship reaches 257.3 meters, width – 60.1 meters, draft – 10.5 meters. This vessel carries the standard armament of a Wasp-class multi-purpose landing craft.
The crew of the ship consists of over 2 thousand people, but at the same time there are up to 1.5 thousand people on board.
The Kearsarge is used to deploy amphibious hovercraft for rapid troop movement and AV-8B Harrier attack aircraft for close air support. It can also carry up to 26 US Navy helicopters.
The ship is expected to stay in Lithuania until Tuesday.
