“One powerful habit for combating plaque buildup in the arteries is regular physical activity. Exercise helps lower levels of ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol, increase levels of ‘good’ HDL cholesterol and improve blood pressure, which promotes healthy arteries,” the doctor explained.
The doctor added that exercise is even anti-inflammatory and helps reduce insulin sensitivity, reducing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, a condition that increases the risk of heart disease.
