Dry shampoos containing benzene can contribute to the emergence and development of cancer, and therefore they should be used with caution, said a senior researcher at the N.N. N. N. Blokhin” of the Ministry of Health of Russia Igor Samoylenko.

In a comment to RIA Novosti, he pointed out that benzene, being a carcinogen, in itself, under various conditions, can provoke the oncology.

At the same time, benzene is very volatile and can easily enter the upper respiratory tract and lungs, causing a tumor. The same goes for the prospects for skin cancer.

Samoylenko urged to carefully study the composition of the shampoo, and if it contains benzene components, limit its use, or completely abandon it. He recalled that some types of dry shampoos had previously been withdrawn from circulation in the United States.

At the same time, liquid shampoos are safer, since benzene is not included in their composition, Samoylenko said.
