On the channel “Russia” – the premiere of the serial melodrama “Polar Waltz”

March 27 at 21.20 on the TV channel “Russia” will premiere the serial melodrama “Polar Waltz”. The main roles in the series are played by Tatyana Lyalina, Alexei Anishchenko, Oleg Fomin, Olga Kabo, Nil Kropalov and Alena Kolomina.

Alena Belkova (Tatyana Lyalina) has everything one can dream of: a successful career under the guidance of a loving father, head of a large medical center Vladimir Alexandrovich (Oleg Fomin), stepmother Natalia (Olga Kabo), who has become a second mother sincerely loving her, and a fiancé Yegor (Aleksey Anishchenko) is a talented surgeon. But an ordinary sanitary expedition to the Arctic, to the city of her childhood Belozersk, unexpectedly completely changes her usual way of life. Returning to St. Petersburg brings Alena some disappointments: she becomes a witness to the unsightly act of her father, relations with her fiancé deteriorate, work no longer brings joy. The girl is increasingly drawn to the Arctic. And, leaving everything, she goes back to Belozersk to work as a simple doctor in a modest regional hospital. The North has always lived in Alena’s heart: there she felt needed, she spent her childhood there, among the deer and the endless tundra, and it is there, with the help of a new acquaintance, charming helicopter pilot Misha (Nil Kropalov), that she can find out the secret of her mother, who disappeared without lead twenty years ago…

Director Felix Gerchikov: “The main intrigue of our film lies in the events of twenty years ago, which disturb and disturb the main character. And in the desire to find the truth and get to the bottom of the truth, she begins her own investigation of that old, but not forgotten story. But, of course, first of all – this is a picture about love. Love for the place where she grew up, for the North, for nature, for white nights. To the man with whom fate brings her. To the profession and to the people. Our heroine is a doctor by profession, and her main task has always been to help people, to be with them, to give them happiness. We have a wonderful cast, I’m sure that all the artists will really like the audience. Everyone was interested in making a very bright and touching story. And I think we succeeded.”

Oleg Fomin: “I play a doctor. I have tremendous respect for this profession, and therefore I set myself the task of playing my role as authentically as possible. As for the rest, understandable life situations are shown here: people make mistakes, correct their mistakes, do things, love, dislike … It happens to all of us, this is life. But there are also more philosophical things here, which also seemed very attractive to me in this story. ”

Olga Kabo: “My heroine Natalya is a talented pediatrician. But for a long time she hid in the shadow of her husband. However, then Natalia makes her choice and proves that she is an excellent specialist in her field. And this role is important to me precisely because of this message: that everyone should be themselves, that one should not lie to oneself, that at some point one must definitely make an important decision for oneself. And all the heroes of the picture have such moments of decision-making, which add up to this story about real feelings and real accomplishments. And it’s also a very beautiful story, because the shooting took place in the very heart of the Arctic. These are extraordinary places, there is some completely different energy and incredible romance here.”

Neil Kropalov: “I really liked the script, it is unique: there have been no stories about the Russian North for a long time. There is some kind of unique atmosphere that we all imbued with and which inspired us and gave us strength in our difficult shootings. I fell in love with these parts. Just like in helicopters: I play a pilot and before filming I studied flying, talked with professional pilots and even flew at the helm. And now I want to continue my education. And, of course, I was attracted by the story itself: it is very sincere, raises the main questions of life and refers to the right values. I hope the audience will be fascinated by her as we are.”

The shooting of the serial film took place in Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as on the Kola Peninsula – in the spurs of the Khibiny mountain range, in Murmansk, Kirovsk, Monchegorsk. In the same cities, the casting of artists was also held, which took about six months. It was important for the authors of the film not only to create a well-coordinated ensemble of actors, but also to show the real inhabitants of this harsh region. Shooting in the north took place in the summer, and white nights made their own adjustments to the process. The film crew had to go to great lengths to show the difference between day and night scenes. And in those episodes that were filmed in Moscow, highlight the set in such a way that it gives the impression that it is a white night outside the window.
