The XVI Russian Kudo Cup took place on September 9 at the Palace of Team Sports. This is a significant and major event in the world of full contact martial arts. The strongest kudo players in Russia over 18 years old competed for eight sets of awards among men and women.
Ivanovo athletes, 3-time champion of Russia in Kudo, winner of the World Championship in Kudo, master of sports, holding the degree of Black Belt 1 dan Alexander Arkadyev and winner of the All-Russian competitions, candidate master of sports Igor Promzelev are part of the Central Federal District team. Alas, they failed to reach the final. Alexander broke his arm in the second fight, and Igor withdrew from the tournament due to injury after the second fight.
Sports competitions were held according to the system with elimination after the first defeat without a consolation round. The winner was determined by points or outright victory.
The organizing committee of the competition included: President of the Kudo Federation of Russia Roman Anashkin, Vice-Presidents of the Kudo Federation of Russia Vladimir Zorin and Yuri Frei, Head of the Ivanovo regional branch of Kudo Bukhadi Guchigov and two-time World Kudo Champion Edgar Kolyan.
Athletes from the Central Federal District team took first place in the team competition. Far Eastern kudoists are second. The Volga Federal District team closed the top three.
