The Regional Committee for Physical Education and Sports reports that tomorrow, November 25, the regional tournament in hundred-square checkers begins in Kostroma, in which checkers players from Kostroma, Sudislavl and the Mezhevsky region will take part. Of these, 10 athletes – Alexander Kurashov, Dmitry Andreev, Alexander Tikhomirov, Dmitry Sheremet and others – had previously become champions and prize-winners of city and regional competitions.
It is worth noting that hundred-cell checkers differ from the usual Russian ones in the wide variety of combinations and strictness of the rules. Until December 1, all checkers players will have to play 7 rounds in a round robin system (that is, “all against all”) and based on the results of all checkers matches, the winner of the regional championship will be determined, who will receive the right to join the Kostroma team for further participation in the All-Russian championship.
