On approaching Belgorod, the air defense system shot down an air target

The air defense system (air defense) worked in the Belgorod region, an air target was shot down on approach to the capital of the region, the regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said in his Telegram channel.

“Our air defense system worked over Belgorod and the Belgorod region – an air target was shot down on approach to the city. Operational services are clarifying information about the consequences on the ground,” wrote He.

According to the preliminary data of the governor, as a result of the work of the air defense, there were no casualties and no damage.

Prior to this, the Russian air defense system discovered and shot down a Ukrainian drone over the Belgorod region on 17 August. Then, according to the Ministry of Defense, also no one was injured. On August 15, Gladkov reported on the operation of the air defense system in the region. Then the drone was seen in the sky over the Shebekinsky district, the drone was shot down, no one was injured. On August 14, two targets were shot down in the air by an air defense system over the village of Pushkarnoye in the Belgorod Region.

On August 13, the Ministry of Defense reported three downed drones over the Belgorod region, the fourth drone was intercepted around 22:00 Moscow time. On the same day, Gladkov reported that one drone flew into an apartment building in Belgorod. There was an explosion, as a result of which the building and cars parked below were damaged. Later, the governor clarified that a 10-year-old girl was injured due to the fall of a drone in Belgorod.

The Belgorod region is regularly shelled by Ukraine. Since October 19, 2022, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, a “medium response level” has been established in the region. The region also has a high (“yellow”) level of terrorist threat indefinitely.
