On a meteorite from Mars, scientists have found a lot of organic compounds

After studying the composition of the Martian meteorite Tissint, which fell in Morocco on July 18, 2011, planetary scientists led by Andrew Steel from the Carnegie Institution came to the conclusion that it contains a wide variety of organic compounds. Some of them have already been found in other meteorites from Mars, but in smaller quantities and not in such a “set”.
Planetologists were interested, among other things, in organomagnesium compounds.
The presence of organic compounds does not imply that Mars is or was inhabited, since such molecules may be produced by reactions unrelated to the activity of organisms. However, the authors of the scientific paper suggest that the new data will help answer some questions regarding the suitability of Mars and the possibility of its appearance on the Red Planet.
The work was published in the journal Science Advances.
