Omsk region declares state of emergency due to heat – Kommersant

Authorities of the Omsk region announced on the introduction of a state of emergency (ES) throughout the region. The corresponding order is published on the website of the regional government.
As follows from the document, the state of emergency is introduced due to prolonged unfavorable weather – a dangerous agrometeorological natural phenomenon – dry wind. The heat and lack of precipitation from July 1 to July 3 have already led to the death of crops on an area of more than 100 hectares. Nikolai Drofa, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Omsk Region, has been appointed responsible for the elimination of the consequences of the emergency.
According to information FSBI “Ob-Irtysh UGMS”, in the region, a “strong heat wave” was established. In the period from 10 to 13 July, the air temperature can rise to +36 degrees and above. “There is a possibility of updating the historical maximum air temperature in Omsk,” said Lyudmila Litovkina, head of the Omsk hydrometeorological center of the Ob-Irtysh UGMS.
On the eve of the state of emergency due to adverse weather conditions – high air temperature and lack of precipitation – was introduced in the Novosibirsk region.
