Omsk Avangard beat Lada on home ice

The Hawks’ home match against Togliatti’s Lada ended with a score of 5:3. Vladimir Tkachev distinguished himself in the first shift.
On January 6, Avangard, alternating victories and defeats, hosted Lada. Let us remember that at the end of 2023 the teams played in Tolyatti, and then Avangard won with a score of 2:1. The opponents last met on Omsk ice in 2017. It is curious that three hockey players who appeared in that game with Avangard now play for Lada: Mikhail Fisenko, Maxim Berezin and Dmitry Kugryshev. But none of the participants in that match have played for Avangard for a long time.
In this match, a miracle happened that the team and fans had been waiting for: Vladimir Tkachev returned to the ice after a cold. The Avangard leader scored 29 seconds after entering the ice.
By the middle of the match, the Omsk team was leading 4:0, but after the start something unimaginable happened: the “hawks” accumulated deletions, gave possession of the puck to the opponents and almost lost all their advantage. The situation was saved by Nikolai Prokhorkin, who scored the decisive goal – 5:3.
Let us also note that Reed Boucher set the Avangard record in the top division for goals in one regular season. The American hit the goal for the 32nd time this season.
Next week the Omsk team will fly to the Far East: on January 8 and 10, Avangard will play there with Admiral, and on January 12 and 13 with Amur.
