Ombudsmen of the DPR and LPR will retain their posts after the republics join Russia

The Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, Tatyana Moskalkova, at a briefing in Yekaterinburg, said that the ombudsmen of the Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) Victoria Serdyukova and Daria Morozova would continue to hold their posts after the regions joined Russia.

“We signed an agreement with Daria Morozova and Victoria Serdyukova back in March. If not on a weekly, then on a monthly basis, we constantly exchange information, help each other on specific cases,” said Tatyana Moskalkova.

According to the Ombudsman of the Russian Federation, Victoria Serdyukova and Daria Morozova were repeatedly present in the Russian apparatus and underwent training there. At the same time, employees of the Russian apparatus were sent to Donetsk and Luhansk to talk about their methods of work, as well as to carry out a humanitarian mission.

“Today, the integration of institutions is our priority. In the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, the selection is underway by the legislature and the heads of these subjects of the Russian Federation. So far, the documents with the candidates have not come to me, ”explained the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia.

Today, October 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved ratification of treaties on the admission of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into Russia. He also signed four relevant federal constitutional laws. The DPR and LPR within Russia will retain the status of republics and their former names.
