22-year-old Russian skier, Olympic champion Veronika Stepanova became ill after finishing at the Championship Heights competition in the Malinovka center in the Arkhangelsk region. There was a 30 km race today.
According to eyewitnesses, the athlete crossed the finish line, fell to the ground and could not get up. Medics rushed to her. Stepanova was conscious when she was loaded on a stretcher into an ambulance.
She finished ninth in the race that ended.
