Three-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Svetlana Kolesnichenko commented on the IOC’s decision on the participation of Russians in the 2024 Olympics. According to the 30-year-old athlete, she is not upset, although she hoped to still perform.
The IOC allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in an individual neutral status and with a number of conditions. However, representatives of team events, including synchronized swimmers, will not be able to participate.
“Honestly, I am such a person, the most positive person in myself. I think, in any case, everything is for the best. I wasn’t upset or desperate. So it was necessary,” Kolesnichenko said.
She agreed that she had already won a lot of regalia, but she would like to continue competing and “swim a little more.” But, unfortunately, it didn’t work out. Kolesnichenko noted that the team does not give up and continues to work.
