On October 19, three-time Olympic champion in biathlon and cross-country skiing Anfisa Reztsova died. She was 58 years old. The athlete’s ex-husband Leonid Reztsov said that she died in intensive care.

In March, Anfisa Reztsova reported that she fainted, after which she was hospitalized. It was later reported that the athlete suffered a heart attack.

In 1988, Anfisa Reztsova won one Olympic gold medal in cross-country skiing, and in 1992 and 1994, two in biathlon. She is also a three-time world champion in cross-country skiing and a two-time winner of the Biathlon World Cup. Reztsova completed her sports career in 2002. In 2011, she was elected to the post of head of the Biathlon Federation of the Moscow Region.
