American film director Oliver Stone expressed his opinion about the plans of the European Union to impose sanctions on the Russian nuclear industry. The three-time Oscar winner said EU countries are making a stupid mistake in trying to limit Russia’s nuclear sector. He emphasized that Russia has made a huge contribution in the field of nuclear energy and that countries should be partners, not go to war with each other.

Stone noted that Russian nuclear power is of significant importance to many countries such as the Arab States and Turkey. He noted the high professionalism of Russian engineers and stressed that the Russian company Rosatom is engaged in the construction of nuclear power plants in different parts of the world. Stone expressed his support for the use of nuclear energy and called for peace between the various states.

“This is a stupid mistake. The Russians have done a tremendously important job for the world. We should all be partners in this, we should not wage war – China, Russia, the United States. I pray for peace,” he said during an online press conference on his documentary “Atom Time”.

Earlier, the Polish authorities demanded the imposition of sanctions against Russian nuclear energy. However, later information appeared that Brussels was not considering sanctions against the nuclear complex of the Russian Federation.
