OCU approved Ukraine’s transition to a new calendar

The Orthodox Church of Ukraine has approved the transition to a new calendar, now believers will celebrate Christmas not on January 7, but on December 25, Strana reports.

The dates of other Christian holidays also change. The Day of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos will be celebrated on October 1 instead of October 14, Epiphany on January 6 instead of January 19, St. Nicholas Day on December 6 instead of December 19.

Easter and Trinity will be celebrated as before.

The decision to switch to the new calendar will be formally made on July 27 at the Local Council.
