Questions about the change of departmental security of the Ministry of Transport of Russia, to the traffic police officers who also inspect transport, and to the operation of equipment on the Crimean bridge appeared among the security forces after the terrorist attack.
As MK found out, despite the presence of modern ultra-sensitive equipment, including explosives, they did not use it in order to avoid traffic jams.
Even during the construction of the Crimean bridge, the Russian Guard officially came out with a proposal to completely take the strategic structure under its protection, especially since there was already experience in protecting bridges.
However, the then leadership of the Ministry of Transport stated that they would cope with this task.
As a result, the protection of the road and railway components of the transport crossing was entrusted to the departmental guards of the Ministry of Transport and Roszheldor. Only the protection of the water area of the bridge (water and underwater parts) was assigned to the Russian Guard.
Since the opening of the bridge, its protection has been provided by the paramilitary guards of the Ministry of Transport – FSUE Department of Departmental Security of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation. In Crimea, she is also involved in the protection of sections of the highways A-290 (former M25) Novorossiysk – Kerch and A-291 (“Tavrida”).
So, what inspection of transport is provided for on the Crimean bridge? It is known that at the entrance to the Crimean bridge there are stationary inspection and inspection radio complexes ST-6035 of the departmental security department of the Ministry of Transport of Russia, which should shine through all vehicles. Sensitive equipment can detect traces of drugs, explosives and chemicals even two months after contact with them.
The developer claims that the ST-6035 complex operates on the basis of a super-powerful microwave accelerator and is capable of inspecting cars in motion at speeds up to 70 kilometers per hour. At the same time, the design throughput is allegedly at least 20 vehicles per hour. The efficiency of scanning, experts note, is not affected by the size and weight of vehicles, nor by the density of loading goods transported in them.
According to the instructions, the vehicle must enter one gate of the inspection tunnel and, after inspection, leave through the other. Inside the tunnel are rails for moving the mobile frame, the components of which provide the generation of x-rays. The scans are fed into a computer system, where an X-ray image of the object is formed. It, in turn, is passed to the image operator for analysis.
Car X-ray does not just give an image of the contents, the developers assure, but recognizes the atomic number of the material. Therefore, the complex without opening the container can quickly calculate drugs, explosives or heavy metals.
The special services are investigating all the circumstances of the incident, but it is already known that the car was practically not inspected, as, indeed, were many other heavy trucks.
The day after the terrorist attack, a message was circulated on telegram channels by one of the truckers, who traveled to Simferopol many times and passed through the ST-6035 inspection complex.
“According to experience, the procedure takes about twenty minutes. But if you check all the trucks, then the traffic jam will accumulate for many kilometers. And, of course, no one will. There is a video where orange dump trucks and the driver ignores the employee’s demand to drive to the scanner. This employee is not a traffic cop and not a “transport worker”, in my opinion, and therefore, if his demand is not met, no one will chase you, ”the trucker shared his experience.
According to him, traffic cops rarely stop cars owned by transport companies, but mostly stop “no-names” of private companies.
Records from surveillance cameras at the Krymsky Bridge checkpoint show that Makhir Yusubov’s truck was stopped at the checkpoint. The driver of the truck opened the doors of the trailer, the traffic police officer looked inside, after which he let the car through. The truck did not undergo a full inspection, including with the help of X-rays.
It is noted that with the beginning of the NWO, the Ministry of Transport did not introduce an enhanced security regime for the transport crossing and did not change the categorization of the security level. Therefore, the Krymsky Bridge has always been and remains a transport infrastructure object of the second category. If the bridge were transferred to the first category, then the inspection of vehicles would not be carried out selectively, but totally.
It is known that more than 12 billion rubles were spent on the security of the Crimean bridge and approaches to it, while traffic police officers were mainly involved in the inspection. In 2022, federal structures signed state contracts to ensure the security of the Crimean bridge in the amount of more than 2 billion rubles.
