NYT: US does not believe cluster munitions will change the course of the UAF counteroffensive

US officials and analysts do not believe that the transfer of cluster munitions to the Ukrainian army can immediately turn the tide of the Ukrainian Armed Forces counteroffensive, which so far has not been developing as well as Kyiv and the West had hoped. This is reported by The New York Times, citing sources in the Pentagon.
According to the interlocutors of the publication, the United States does not expect an immediate effect from the transfer of cluster munitions to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. However, they expect that the impact of such assistance can be seen only later if Kyiv receives much more ammunition from the allies.
On July 13, Pentagon spokesman Douglas Sims said that cluster munitions, the supply of which to the Armed Forces of Ukraine was announced earlier, already entered the territory of Ukraine.
However, Politico writes that Kyiv’s Western allies, while assuring Ukraine’s unchanging support, may review the level of support because of the bogged down counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as uncertainty remains about how the conflict will develop, and the problems of the Kyiv regime are only getting worse.
