Nutritionist Tew urged not to ban children from eating unhealthy foods

Nutritionist Priya Tew told British tabloid The Sun that the wrong attitude to food is formed through food bans.
The specialist believes that parents often set unnecessary restrictions for children. In fact, harmful foods do not need to be completely banned, it is more correct to reduce their number, and also monitor the balance of the child’s diet.
Tew also recommended paying attention to the composition of food, in particular to excess sugar that enters the child’s menu not only in the form of sweets and soda, but also with the “right” foods, such as yogurt.
The expert strongly advises parents not to be lazy and plan the menu for the week ahead: this will help create a balanced, wholesome diet that the child needs for growth and development.
Another important tip for parents is not to give too much food to the children. As a rule, children do not eat it to the end, because they sensibly assess their capabilities. Often children are not hungry at all. Even if the child has not eaten anything for several hours, he is likely to be full if he drank juice or milk. By the way, Tew does not advise giving juice to a child every day – there is too much sugar in it, which is bad for teeth.
