Numbeo database named the most criminal city in Russia

The Serbian global database, Numbeo, analyzed netizen surveys and created a map of the world based on crime rates. “News”, having studied a kind of rating, they found several Russian cities in it, the most criminal of which for some reason was called Novosibirsk. At the same time, experts interviewed by the newspaper noted that for all the conventionality of official statistics on crime, it gives a completely different rating of unparity places for the Russian Federation. However, Numbeo, making a review of 416 cities from five parts of the world, hardly set itself scientific goals – the authors identified the “level of criminal danger.”

At the very bottom of the ranking, which lists cities where the very air is filled with the smell of danger, Caracas is located. It is adjacent to Pretoria, Durban and Johannesburg (South Africa), Rio de Janeiro, Fortaleza and Natal (Brazil), Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea), San Pedro Sula (Honduras) and Kabul (Afghanistan).

The safest city on the planet was Abu Dhabi (UAE). With him in the company of places where you can be calm for your life and wallet, Doha (Qatar) and Taipei (China). In Europe, by the way, the safest is the Spanish San Sebastian.

There are five Russian cities in the rating of the service: Novosibirsk (182nd place), Yekaterinburg (197), St. Petersburg (254), Moscow (282) and Nizhny Novgorod (347). But, as Izvestia emphasizes, even Novosibirsk and Yekaterinburg, which are the most “criminal” according to this version, have indices of 47.7 and 46.4, respectively, and this is an average crime rate. And about the rest, judging by the points assigned, we can say that these are cities with a low crime rate.

Domestic experts, getting acquainted with the foreign rating, smiled broadly. According to Russian statistics, the Amur Region, the Republic of Altai, the Republic of Buryatia, the Jewish Autonomous Region and the Trans-Baikal Territory are leaders in terms of the number of crimes per thousand inhabitants. As noted by experts, cities from these regions are not included in the Numbeo rating at all.
