Nuclear weapons are meaningless – UN Secretary General

Nuclear weapons are meaningless, said UN Secretary-General António Guterres, speaking in Japanese Hiroshima at a mourning ceremony in memory of the victims of the atomic bombing of the city.
According to the UN Secretary General, humanity should “ask itself” what it has learned three-quarters of a century after the first military use of nuclear weapons, or since the Cold War, when the world was a few steps away from destruction.
According to him, the nuclear arms race is becoming more active, and at present the nuclear arsenals of the countries of the world contain almost 13 nuclear warheads. He called for the very possibility of nuclear war to be considered unacceptable.
“Humanity is playing with a loaded gun,” he declared.
In August 1945, the United States carried out nuclear bombings of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing more than 230,000 people, mostly civilians. On August 6 and 9, “Peace Ceremonies” are held annually in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
