In August, the Project 955A nuclear-powered strategic missile submarine (ARKSN) Generalissimo Suvorov will complete its transition from the Northern Fleet to the Pacific Fleet. This was reported TASS with reference to a source close to the military department.
“The submarine Generalissimo Suvorov will make an inter-naval transition from the Northern Fleet to the Pacific Fleet in August. The transition will be carried out along the Northern Sea Route, including in a submerged position,” the TASS interlocutor said.
“Generalissimo Suvorov” is the fourth generation of nuclear-powered ships of the Borey-A project. The submarine was laid down at the Sevmash shipyard in December 2014 and taken out of the shed in December 2021. The main weapon of the missile carriers of this project is 16 Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles on each.
In January of this year, it was reported that the cruiser moved from Severodvinsk to a place of temporary deployment in the Northern Fleet. As a rule, new submarine trays make transitions to their bases in the Pacific Fleet along the Northern Sea Route in the summer months.
