The government of the Novosibirsk region commented on the words of President Vladimir Putin about increasing tariffs for housing and communal services in the Novosibirsk region. They recalled the growth of wages in the region, as well as the fact that the last time indexation was carried out last year.
A pensioner from the Novosibirsk region asked the head of state a question about the situation with tariffs in the region. The man said that housing and communal services tariffs are expected to increase in the region by 9–14%, while the indexation of pensions at 7.5% will not be enough to close this difference. In response, the head of state said that he hopes that the increase in pensions will not be lower than inflation. Over the same period, pensions were indexed three times and increased by more than 23%, the government of the Novosibirsk region reported.
“By decision of the government of the Novosibirsk region, in 2023, the wages of employees of state and municipal institutions of the Novosibirsk region were increased by 16%; for 2024, the regional budget also provides for indexation of wages in accordance with the level of inflation and wage growth in the regional economy,”— reported “Kommersant-Siberia” in the government of the Novosibirsk region.
The regional government also noted that the last time tariffs for housing and communal services in the region were indexed was on December 1, 2022, their validity was calculated for one and a half years. A new indexation of 9.5% in the region is scheduled for July 1, 2024 “in accordance with regulations of the Russian government – from 5% to 14%.”
In February of this year, a rally was held in Novosibirsk against rising prices for housing and communal services. The action was held with the slogans “Stop robbing people”, “No increase in tariffs”, etc. Previously, tariffs in the Novosibirsk region were increased in December 2022.
