Novgorod athletes brought two awards at once from the world championship in universal combat, the press service of the Ministry of Sports of the region said.
According to officials, the competition was held in Sochi, which brought together over 400 athletes from Russia, Syria, Tajikistan, Armenia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The world championship in the weight of 80 kilograms was won by a twenty-year-old Novgorodian Tigran Mirzoyan. Meanwhile, eighteen-year-old Anton Kushnir became the bronze medalist in the 65 kg category.
The Ministry of Sports of the region congratulated the guys and coach Igor Balashov on their successful performance, wishing them “new achievements”.
